flyvertising. need we say more?
A major breakthrough in advertising technology has now arrived. Flyvertising. Attaching your ads to flies, and then letting them lose on the world.
We wouldn't recommend this for the restaurant industry. Or certain world leaders.

the next best thing to being there

Online friend CB writes a nice post about how she attended Neocon. Virtually.
It's true that now thanks to Twitter, you can watch just about any conference from afar by searching the associated hashtags. So it's almost like you're waiting in the same line at restaurants, complaining about the same poor wifi, or listening to the same brilliant speakers. Who needs to travel, if your Twitter friends can do it for you?
(And of course any blog post that mentions me by name is always a brilliant piece of wonderment. Thanks, CB!)

meeting rooms, 2.0 style

The boutique hotel concept has finally arrived in the event planning industry. Meet at the Apartment is a new concept in corporate meeting space. Highly designed, ultra cool, uber hip meeting space that you rent on an as needed basis.
Awesome for brainstorms, client meetings in NYC when your office is in Toldeo, or a fun off-site location. But they don't come cheap.
These aren't likely to replace the "let's meet at Starbucks" crowd, at a flat rate of $5,000 to $10,000 per day. Yes, this includes staffing (concierge, server and on-call A/V tech), audio-visual components, meeting facilitation supplies and unlimited beverages and snacks. Mmmmm. Awesome idea for a small conference or series of meetings. From Springwise.

how a $50 trade show booth can capture attention

This is how you command attention at a busy trade show, on a small budget. Sure, it's been hammed up a bit for the photo (trade show regulations would never let you spill into the aisle like that), but this is a proof that you don't need a two story tower filled with booth babes and free beer to get noticed.
Best of all, when their show is done, they just make one trip to the recycle bin, and they're ready to go. Creativity wins.

your promo crap is sitting in a landfill

About to print 10,000 keychains to give away at your upcoming conference? Keychains that were produced with stinky petroleum, and that will be thrown into landfills once the conference is over?
Rest easy - because Eco Imprints has your back. A promotional goodie company that's devoted to producing more eco friendly and socially responsible promotional swag. A good idea whose time has come. Thanks Ryan!

ny auto show without the crowds

Make the Logo Bigger Bill has put together a fun Flickr slide show of the best of the NY Auto Show. Bill's gone to every NY Auto Show since the beginning of time, and has commentary like only a person who works on the auto brands can sarcastically deliver. I like the matte black Lexus. But want it in a MINI.

sched.org: people really dig this

Some are saying that the big hit to come out of SXSW this year is Sched.org. You can view the schedule I attempted to stick to here.
People used it to get a feel for what was happening at the conference, to see what their friends might be doing, and to keep track of where they were supposed to be going. It exports to your iPhone, and so much more. I saw it open on countless laptops while at the conference.
Made by Chirag Mehta and Taylor McKnight, this is certainly a tool that has some wonderful opportunities - and at the very least, should be a part of every future conference.

watch the demo demonstrations from the comfort of your home. or office.
Today is the last day of DEMO, a super cool conference geared toward emerging technologies, stuff, and new stuff.
A little bit trade show, a little bit product demonstration, a little bit venture capital party. Anyway - you can peak in on the fun and some of the cool new products at their site - where they stream the presentations live. You can also watch the presentations from earlier in the week, like Skyfire (above), the new mobile internet browser that has everyone's pants on fire with excitement.

the coolest sales collateral at CES

Apartment Therapy points to a very funny promo handout promoting home servers at the CES show. Great conceptual, design and writing. Nice work.
