best marketing podcast ever

If you've never listened to the Beancast, here's a good reason to start: I'm featured in this week's episode.
You'll love hearing Kelly Eidson, an Advertising Age contributing writer and BrandFlake's colleague Bill Green from Make the Logo Bigger chat about stuff that's happening in the industry. But clearly the best part of this week's episode is my glorious voice.
In the "Risky Business" episode of the Beancast, we chat about taking risks, anonymous blogging, Twitter movie reviews, banner ads and the Brody PR blunder. We all go on and on as if we're experts in everything. Download it now - because you're tired of all the songs on your iPod, anyway.

friday flakes episode two
Here's episode two of Friday Flakes! Today's Friday Flakes is hosted by RJ and Darryl.
In this week's episode, we talk about:
+ A crazified, cold and gummi-less week at Plaid.
+ Darryl's zombie thumbnail
We highlight two posts from BrandFlakes:
+ A pirate store helps a non-profit
+ Yet another social media network that Caff and Dirk turned us onto
In the world of social media, we chat about:
+ The Facebook vs Burger King faceoff
+ How Twitter broke the plane crash story
We're still troubled with audio issues, but refuse to use any of our pro equipment. We're attempting to produce these episodes with Flip cameras - virtually eliminating all setup, digitizing and editing. Our goal is to produce an entire show from start to finish within 30 minutes, and zero editing. This is something we'll consider to discuss and experiment with - and your ideas are welcome!

Introducing friday flakes
We're going to try this podcast thing. Here's our goal:
+ A quick ten minute-ish clip from the makers of Brand Flakes for Breakfast.
+ Hosted each week by two Plaid employees, and posted every Friday.
+ A little bit about the industry, cool stuff we've noticed, and life at Plaid.
+ Un-rehearsed, quick and dirty, no editing, just sit down and chat.
Our first episode is above. This week, we talk about:
+ Returning from a long, long holiday break.
+ CES and MacWorld
+ Robert Scoble stuck on a bus.
+ David Armano makes social media magic.
And we highlight three posts we thought were interesting this week:
- A cool way to do testimonials
- Some new thinking on "free"
- How not to be a tweetscumbag
We've already torn the first episode to pieces and know what we'll do better next week. This is absolutely a work in progress. But what about you? What should we do more of? Less of? Get better at?

the hottest girls on the internet
Like everyone's totally buzzing all over the internet about the I'm Just Saying Show. It's like totally like awesome and amazing like.
Hipster girls talking about whatever, like. This will keep you entertained for hours. Or annoyed. You decide. (If the F word isn't welcome in your workplace, you might want to watch it at home, or with headphones.)

a bunch of stuff that you already knew...

but that's ripe for sharing with your boss: This social media stuff is really, really popular.
Universal McCann just released a new report showing that people really dig social media. That people watch video online. And are participating in social networks. And are beginning to understand RSS.
You will probably say "DUH", but you know you need these bullets for that PowerPoint presentation to the board:
- 83% watch video clips, up from 62% in the last study in June 2007
- 78% read blogs, up from 66%
- 57% of internet users are now members of a social network
- RSS consumption is growing rapidly up from 15% to 39%
- Podcasts are now mainstream digital content, listened to by 48%
More highlights of the 17,000 internet users surveyed last month on ReadWriteWeb.
The photo of Rob's smirk has absolutely nothing to do with this post. I just thought a graph or chart would be really boring. Let's just pretend that Rob is thinking of social media trends in this pic. Which, I believe he is.

best podcast ever recorded

Maybe even the best audio ever recorded. Imagine hearing my voice - drone on and on, about the new Zyrtek campaign, about Earth Day, and online ethics (!)
Now you can. Thanks to The Custom Scoop Magazine and their Media Bullseye Roundtable.
I'm featured on the latest episode, along with experts Sarah Wurrey and Jennifer Zingsheim. Listen to be dazzled. Or listen to count how many times that I say "um."
This is a great series, featuring some really intelligent discussion about marketing, branding, social media and our industry in general. They've lowered their standards for this episode on a one-time-only basis, and assure me that the rest of their shows will feature real guests. Who don't say "um" as much.

how all magazines should be released

Bones Magazine has the right idea. It's released on line - and dependent on your preference, you can download a PDF (and even print it, if you hate trees), download a 30 minute audio podcast, or a 5 minute video podcast. Or download all three and dedicate your day to Bones Magazine.
This issue is chocked full of really cool photography, illustration, art and inspiration. Enjoy. Stuffy corporate types might not dig this - so just move along...nothing to see here.

flip cameras are hot
Great to see that Flip cameras are getting loads of buzz in the blogoverse. We recently bought them for the crew in our office, and record everything. Even produced a rough and ready 'beer with Plaid' vodcast.
If you haven't checked them out yet, Flip cameras are video cameras about the size of a large cell phone that record 640 x 480 video. WITHOUT TAPE. It's completely digital, and the cameras come with a built in usb port, so digitizing is a snap.
Our office halloween field trip was produced entirely on a Flip camera (above). We'll be recording and vloging and doing whatever with ours. You should too.

mahalo trailer does best of all video podcasts
A fun (and a little annoying) trailer for the new Mahalo vidcast, that parodies some of the best (or more popular) internet video podcasts.

ad age launches 3 minute vidcast

Ad age just launched their equivalent of Morgan Webb's WebbAlert, but for the ad industry. (Only their host isn't as cute or cool as Morgan Webb.)
It's called 3 minute Ad Age. Watch it, so you don't have to touch paper. From The Denver Egotist.

officially addicted to justin
You're probably familiar with Justin.tv. If not - he's the guy who has strapped a camera to his head, and streams video of his entire life to Justin.TV. Everything he does, streamed 24/7. Everything. He's a self proclaimed lifecaster.
Anyway, Geek Entertainment TV has a cool interview with him, live from his apartment. I've only been paying attention since yesterday, and I'm already addicted. I keep a tab on my browser open with Justin, and keep an eye on him. Yesterday, I left the office for some meetings, and my workmates got worried, because my computer started sneezing. Turns out, it was Justin, waking up on the west coast.
Sooo many possibilities to add Justin to your life. Or your brand campaign. Or your television show.
He's sleeping right now, in case you were wondering.
