what it takes to make a magazine cover

If you've ever wondered what it takes to put together a magazine cover (those paper things, that are like blogs), or maybe you've questioned why your creative agency takes so long to complete that ad of yours - then you have to watch this time lapse video of the creation of a MacWorld cover.
From photo shoot to published in three minutes. Wonderful and beautiful and you'll wish that we could time lapse every project like this.

video to watch again and again
Really cool video produced from the desktop of a Mac. This may have you watching again and again. And again. And Again. From 30gms.
UPDATE: Here's an attempt at producing the same video, on a PC.

the trailer for the movie for mac heads
The trailer for Macheads the Movie is out. This should be riveting. Will the stars live until the end? Will the special effects be believable? Spoiler alert: I predict that in the end of the film, the characters will really like Apple.
Thanks Brian!!

zune just wants to be an ipod

Here's a great lesson for every brand. Don't try and be like your competitor. Be different (or better), instead.
Check out this great post about how Zune has attempted to utilize one of the signature Apple brand statements/unboxing experiences. And why it fails miserably.

other people's desktops

I love seeing how other people work. When I visit friends and clients, I always love hearing about new tools or techniques that they use for productivity. And to see their desktops. Both real and virtual.
Lifehacker has a sweet couple of posts showing (and detailing) other people's desktops. They even show some desktops using that older, archaic operating system - Windows. ;-) Really cool.

what if apple embraced social media?

Blogstring has a really interesting post about Apple and social media. Nathan suggests that Apple should start their own Facebook type application. Some really, really good insight here.
Not only would such a network be beautious in wonderous Apple splendor, but Nathan points out that Steve Jobs would see some nice benefits too:
+ They could sell a lot of iTunes
+ They could lure developers
+ Integration with the magic iPhone
+ They could extend their brand farther into the Windows world
Really excellent perspective. Mmmmm. Apple.

apple iphone ad a ripoff?
DaBitch points to a story claiming that the Apple Hello spot is a total ripoff of a sequence from artist Christian Marclay's 1995 film Telephones. At first, it seemed like a coincidence - but now Marclay claims that Apple actually contacted him about using his piece. When he wasn't interested, they just created their own version. Pretty scummy, if it's true.

mac holiday ad is here

Mac just released their newest series of spots, proving that Justin Long wasn't fired. The smug little twit lives on. They let him grow his hair longer, too. And PC got a gnarly sweater. Rejoice.
