so much more fun than a stress ball

If you or your gift recipients live anywhere near San Diego - check this out. Sarah's Smash Shack lets you smash stuff. In a completely safe, stress reducing environment. And they'll even clean it up, afterward.

This is an awesome pop up retail idea, too - but in the meantime, buy a Sarah's Smash Shack gift certificate for your friend in California. From Kuanyin Moi, via Twitter.

subway tokens for your neck

Hanger 3 has recycled subway tokens, world's fair tokens and other classic coinage into awesome necklaces. And they'll only cost you the price of a few rides on the A train.

This is a great gift for someone who just left a favorite city, lives and breathes a particular city, or is otherwise emotionally attached to urban life.

a ridiculous laptop bag

For your friends that work until they drop, here's the perfect bag. It's a laptop bag that's also a pillow. Perfect for the afternoon nap, after the sugar crash.

It's also a good place to rest your head, after getting pummeled by the fashion police for carrying a silly messenger bag.

facebook is like crack.

These shirts totally, completely, awesomely ROCK. I can't think of anyone that wouldn't totally love you for putting this under the tree. And - it's a pet project from a fellow ad/creative geek Lee Washington, at Cake, London!

Just because the prices are listed in Pounds, doesn't mean that you can't buy them in the US. (Don't worry creative peeps - your credit card company will do all of the math for you.) Just order today.

see the world through a fisheye

Here's a great gift for the creative person in your life the Lomo Fisheye Camera.

"170-degree field of view The heart, soul, and blood of the Fisheye's brilliance: an enormous field of view that takes in literally half of the world around you and compacts it into a nice and tight circular image. Barrel distortions twist and bend your subjects around the edges, stretch them towards and away from your lens, and converge their lines towards the center." - available at fitzsu.com.

The Lomo Fisheye is $70, takes ol' school 35mm film, and is fun for all ages!

funky pendant lamps

Every modern store seems to be offering different variations of these funky pendant lamps right now. Some of the pendants have a very organic feel, while others are very clean and modern. The one shown above would be very cool over a couch, or a dining room table. I could easily see it at a lounge or restaurant.

Incorporating any of these artistic light fixtures into a room, would definitely bring the living space up a notch in the style category.

silly, zany items for people you love

The Onion Store has a host of really hilarious gifts. Like the "stop staring at my tote" tote, above. I hate totes. But if I were to use one, this would be the one. I think I'm going to walk around today, and just randomly say "stop staring at my tote." That sounds like fun.

jewelry for the dj, designer, or whatever

I can't see how you could possibly get any of these items in time for xmas, but if you're up for a challenge, check out the ultra cool jewelry by ToyMe. The dude from Bloc Party is wearing the headphone jack necklace, above, so now it's automatically cool. From CoolHunting.

designer emulation kits

These lights are mini replicas of famous designer lamps. And all four could fit on your desk. Note the nifty Duracell look-a-likes.

Bought the Arc for my husband, just arrived, just as cool in person.

usb turntable

In my basement, I have about six boxes packed tight with vinyl records that I just can't let go of. And I know that I'm not alone here. A USB recordable turntable is the perfect gift for the music fan that needs to get their vinyl onto their ipod. Or for the person that needs to clean out their basement.

andy warhol box of photographs

I've always had a thing for Andy. But he's especially hot this year. Barney's has limited edition Campbells soup cans (currently out of stock), and has even decorated their store windows in Andy style.

Alphabets NYC has a really cool gift under their "groovy gifts" section - a red wooden box containing 11 of Andy Warhol's Holson Polaroid albums. Each book contains a facsimile reproduction of Warhol’s sequence. Sweet.

coolest underwear ever, ever, ever.

The String Republic has commissioned a bunch of really cool undies for you. Or your mate. Just don't give these to Aunt Agnes. Or things might get really weird at the family holiday celebration. From Notcot.

keep them alive

OK, this breaks my rule of trying to focus on gifts under $100 (this one's $850), but given all of the survival news of late, The ICE-Qube is a great idea. Everything a family would need to survive, in the event of a catastrophe, packed into a cool designed box. Think Katrina. It could happen to you.

If like me, you're not giving any gifts this year in the $850 range - look at this as inspiration. You could build your own family survival box for MUCH less. And there are some really cool containers and things around, if you look hard enough. Everyone will look at you and say things like "ohh.... that's sooo thoughtful. What a wonderful gift." Thank me later. Ice-Qube discovered at Core77.

in da' house

The perfect gift for anyone who loves typography. These two books are chock full of House Industries style eye candy.

Going all out like you wish you could - four color process, spot silver, spot varnish, thermography - buy the set for $75, or the 48 page Case Study Book alone, for $15.

vintage records

How about giving recycled vintage records as gifts?

Check out the snack bowl, record bowl, red record bowl, and the set of vintage record coasters offered on elsewares.com.

Retrolicious.

silver can cuffs

These stylish can cuffs are handmade from sterling silver and aluminum cans.

There are several brands available to match your style... including Lucky Lager, Rolling Rock, Coca Cola, Dr. Pepper, Sunkist, Guinness, Pabst and Miller beers. I'm pretty sure Darryl would particularly favor the one shown above.

They are a little over the 100 dollar mark... but hey it's the Holiday season... it's good to splurge.

If you want a cheaper alternative they also offer cool can rings.

give the gift of cardboard

Here's an arts and crafts project that will make a statement on your desk.

The Atomic Bonsai Kit is easily assembled and can be infinitely restyled by moving the cardboard leaves to different branches.

No water or pruning necessary.

I pity the fool who doesn't consider this gift.

Imagine having this tough guy as your sidekick. For only $10.95, how could you go wrong?

Just "quit your jibba jabba"... and check out Mr. T in Your Pocket.
