see the world through a fisheye ![]() Here's a great gift for the creative person in your life the Lomo Fisheye Camera. "170-degree field of view The heart, soul, and blood of the Fisheye's brilliance: an enormous field of view that takes in literally half of the world around you and compacts it into a nice and tight circular image. Barrel distortions twist and bend your subjects around the edges, stretch them towards and away from your lens, and converge their lines towards the center." - available at fitzsu.com. The Lomo Fisheye is $70, takes ol' school 35mm film, and is fun for all ages! Labels: artists, creatives, designers, fun, gadgets, photography

funky pendant lamps ![]() Every modern store seems to be offering different variations of these funky pendant lamps right now. Some of the pendants have a very organic feel, while others are very clean and modern. The one shown above would be very cool over a couch, or a dining room table. I could easily see it at a lounge or restaurant. Incorporating any of these artistic light fixtures into a room, would definitely bring the living space up a notch in the style category. andy warhol box of photographs ![]() I've always had a thing for Andy. But he's especially hot this year. Barney's has limited edition Campbells soup cans (currently out of stock), and has even decorated their store windows in Andy style. Alphabets NYC has a really cool gift under their "groovy gifts" section - a red wooden box containing 11 of Andy Warhol's Holson Polaroid albums. Each book contains a facsimile reproduction of Warhol’s sequence. Sweet. Labels: artists, books, creatives, designers, photographers

creative commons, eff donations ![]() Can't stand the commercialization of Christmas? Don't want to buy into consumerism? (cmon, it's fun). Really like to give a charitable donation instead of (or in addition to) gifts? There are about six cabillion worthy non-profits, all who desperately need your hard earned cash. And you should definitely give to a few. (Feel free to list your favorites in comments.) But if you want to impress a creative person, give to a charity that means something in their industry. Two that come to mind for internet workers: Creative Commons and the EFF. You can even get some bitchin' t-shirts, (here and here) and celebrate with an actual gift WHILE help a great cause. silver can cuffs ![]() These stylish can cuffs are handmade from sterling silver and aluminum cans. There are several brands available to match your style... including Lucky Lager, Rolling Rock, Coca Cola, Dr. Pepper, Sunkist, Guinness, Pabst and Miller beers. I'm pretty sure Darryl would particularly favor the one shown above. They are a little over the 100 dollar mark... but hey it's the Holiday season... it's good to splurge. If you want a cheaper alternative they also offer cool can rings. Labels: apparel, artists, craft, creatives, handmade, recycled

a craft fair without the church basement ![]() Just sit right back and enjoy the world's biggest craft fair. No hobos like the craft fairs in the city. And no grandmas, like the craft fairs in the suburbs. Just you and the crafters. Or whatever you call them. If you haven't spent time at etsy in a while, now's the time. Etsy is the online marketplace for all things craft. And we're not talking about toilet paper covers made of crochet. Not that there's anything wrong with that. (Yes, there are some crochet things, too, as you can see by the image above. Not sure why he doesn't have a shirt on.) Shop at etsy for 20 minutes and you'll feel like you've visited the largest craft fair in the world. Cool art, t-shirts, and so much more. All unique, hand made gifts. Not sure what to look for? Try the "time machine" feature, which throws a random sampling of Etsy goodies at you, non-stop. Labels: artists, craft, handmade
