Preschoolers leaving voicemails...

Would you give your four-year old their own phone? Likely not. But companies like Toymail are banking on the fact that connectivity matters. Their newest plush toys, Talkies, are a simplified way of letting kids send and receive voice messages with parents (or with approved friends that also have Talkies). The toys work over wifi and require that parents have an app. So, imagine this experience – Jacob has been tucked into bed and later hears a noise (likely a one-eyed monster that thinks he’s food). Instead of alerting the monster with a scream, or sitting in fear, he cuddles with his Talkie and tells him that he’s scared… moments later, mom to the rescue! All thanks to an alert on mom's phone and Jacob's voice message.
