Fundraising is a
uniquely challenging and competitive endeavor. All the causes are good. All the
end beneficiaries are deserving. But with so much need and only so many
dollars, how do you hit prospective donors in the solar plexus — and the
wallet? B.C. Children’s Hospital did it by getting them to experience the idea
of happiness from the perspective of a sick child. They asked kids to draw what
happy looks like, then turned the results into digital “stickers” that can be
used like emojis. Every 99¢ download equals a donation. Additionally, B.C.
Children’s released a holiday video that uses “The Night Before Christmas” as
the narration for scenes of children in the hospital. Get out your hankies –
and your checkbooks.
