Build my plane at the gate?

It sounds like an outrageous idea but one that Airbus design studio, A3, thinks could redefine air travel – even turning it into as important and personalized an experience as the destination itself. A3’s Transpose concept is designed off of a freight aircraft that today is loaded and unloaded at each destination. Working much in the same way, except in place of cargo, planes would load pre-built passenger modules into the exterior shell, creating endless customization options and allowing airlines to craft passenger and route-specific environments. Cross-country red-eye, add sleeping modules. Orlando-bound families, add play areas. Vegas-bound party-goers, add in-flight entertainment options. In the end, if A3’s concept comes to life, it could enable true customer experiences that resonate and help airlines instill positivity in a category that has an otherwise negative customer perception.
