imprisoned by a banner ad

Amnesty International and their agency, The Digitals (out of Poland), wanted people to understand how it felt to have your freedom so limited that simply expressing your political thoughts (something we all have probably done at least once online) can cause you to be imprisoned. But how do you get that powerful message across in a banner ad? You imprison their cursor, that's how.

This clever banner asked users if they wanted to dissolve their government. When they went to click an answer their cursor froze to reveal the message that in Belarus, you would go to prison for expressing that desire. The cursor was then released and users were asked to sign the petition to support their cause.

Although the banner wasn't served much, the conversion rate of signing the petition was quite high at 11%. Very nice!
