the future of retail is here

Just like retailers have outposts across the world, and place products in places that you're likely going to find yourself in a need for in just the right place (like vending machines in airports,) Facebook has added e commerce. The 800 Flowers store is now open. So Facebook can remind you that it's your girlfriends birthday, and now you can buy her some flowers in the same place. Awesomeness. We can't wait to see this spread, and the possibilities that it might bring to retailers.

Thanks to Facebook's mediocre search functionality, I noticed the 800 Flowers Sucks group first - but eventually, you can find the actual Facebook page and shop.

Let's hope that the store is placed contextually within your Facebook experience, so you get the opportunity to buy at just the right time. The future on the internet is going to be awesome.
