change versus consistency



This is a fun comparison of the Pepsi and Coke marks. Not entirely accurate, but pretty funny when put side by side.

Quite funny indeed. I do think they certainly needed a change in the 50s as the two were quite similar prior to that. However, no matter how many times they change it, the 70s/80s version will always be the look I associate Pepsi with.

Actually he has updated it now with the changes Coke have made. Looks less clear now.

Strategically it has always made sense that Pepsi continually change their logo. Their brand is centered around Now, not What Was. I think it makes sense against the larger brand strategy.
