There's a new agency in town. After Plaid, this could very well be the agency to end all agencies*.
And the Twitter Agency was built with Twitter. Laurel Papworth noted that Vodafone was putting their $30 million account up for pitch to agencies. Laurie wondered if her and her Twitter friends could do a better job. One thing led to another and....well, they haven't won the account yet, but this is something to watch. She's essentially crowd-sourced 61 brilliant social media thinkers together in the matter of a few hours.
And it's not too late for you to join in on the fun. This could soon become the largest agency in the world. And then, we'll begin to buy up other agencies. And then we'll invest heavily in other stuff. And then we'll make a mistake, and run out of money. But it will all be ok, because we'll get a bailout. Or we'll tweet a bailout. Maybe I'm getting ahead of things, but you can see the potential. This is our Twitter future.
*People like DirkTheCow or Charlie or (your name here) might think the third best agency.

Yes, watching Laurel's experiment take shape in a matter of hours was a lot of fun.
And of course, she does have a point - Laurel has 2000 odd followers, a large proportion of which are ad, PR, media, blogger etc types.
If they all start talking up a product or a brand, then given all the connections that they have, several million dollars starts to look like a bit of a bargain.
