is it cool when you say you're kewl?

Three entertainment marketers have collaborated to launch a new brand targeting tweens. DIC Entertainment (insert Beavis & Butthead laugh here), Geffen Records and Poets Road have created Kewl , a new magazine and tv show.

Looks a lot like Tiger Beat. Not that I read Tiger Beat or anything.

By the looks of the crappy cover design and website, I'm guessing the core audience here is tween girls. Granted, I'm about as far as you can get from the teen girl demographic, but hasn't this audience been raised on more sophisticated media and design? Does trashy AOL style graphic design really connect anymore? I'm thinking Kewl is lame.
