the internet is fast, yo.

Nothing new to you, I know... but I got a fun reminder of just how fast the internet is last week, as I was watching the Saddam story break.

Here's how I witnessed the story breaking, in the exact order of occurrence:

1. While watching unpromoted Digg links, I saw the links coming in like mad - kind of like an AP machine of yesteryear..."Saddam dead", "Saddam executed", and the headlines continued, filling the page.

2. About 10 - 15 minutes later, the national television news breaks into programming with the announcement.

3. Ten minutes after that - I swear this is true - the local TV news station runs a promo/teaser "will Saddam be executed in the next few days?"

I wonder if they found out in time for their broadcast.
