bank gets ugly

Sullivan Higdon & Sink launched an ugly promotion for financial client UMB. Titled My Ugly Room, the promotion centers around a website that invites users to submit pictures of their ugliest rooms. Prizes are given for the ugliest rooms, and $10K will be given to the ugliest of all.
The site is very well done - because it focuses on the product/service benefit, not the product itself - but it doesn't end there. The promotion is of course nicely touted with banners on the UMB site, a blog, and in-store displays. Not just cardboard instore signage - they actually decorated select UMB lobbies with ugly furniture.
On American Copywriter (one of my faves, btw), they detail some of the challenges they experienced in launching the promotion. Outstanding work.
